Watchtower Quotes

hi,.

i'm hoping someone can help me.. i'm trying to find quotes from the watchtower publications talking about how the catholics are following men instead of jesus, and how they almost worship the pope, basically any quotes like that where the society condemns the catholics for the same thing the dubs do with the governing body.. thanks :-)

The Friday thing is still in place, formally. The spirit of sacrifice or fast is still asked for - but these days people don't consider meat abstinence to be a fitting thing to do universally - give me fish anyday - but not so in times past - people thought a lot of eating meat - so meat was it - I still try for the Friday meat trip - my mom sure does it.

It's not considered to be so sinful if you don't do it, but for an active / formal catholic, it does plainly express apathy to the catholic bond if you don't. But, aside from protest, to actively not do it as a way of saying, "I simply don't want to know you", well yeah, that's catholically antisocial ('sinful').

i've had these questions on my mind for a while and i was just curious as to what some other people's thoughts might be.. .

first off is the issue of the flood and noah.

in the bible account noah was commisioned to preach to those around him about the coming flood.

I've seen bits of it on tele, but I can't remember how it went - I suppose given all the time in the world, the main character proceeds to help everyone?

i've had these questions on my mind for a while and i was just curious as to what some other people's thoughts might be.. .

But is life without consequence actually life ?

So where does one put their faith ? In honour (but not pride) - in what you inherently know to be right, without any rewards or deals.

I was told I have this life - how so - because I'm alive. If I don't think it's enough, then I may think it unfair - If I could not compare mine, I would know no different. I would simply "recieve the same day's pay" unbeknowns.

But additionally and without dessert on my part, there is a Gift that has revealed to me more life, so I hope and understand this one. No one could say to me what has been said, not people as I know them. I know this may sound bizarre to someone else.

If you knew you had an eternal life, how would your life in this one be - it wouldn't matter - you'd know that you are - always time - and what would you do - help people, of course. What else is there to do when you've got all the time in the world?

Was it fair to destroy people who had a valid reason for doubting Noah's warning?

No rain? Do people love if you threaten them? Thats simply how you exact a deal.

Is this actually suggesting that God made a mistake? Why would a being who is perfect in action need to make a promise that he would never do something again?

Sorry to see it happen in general. Ask someone whos killed in self-defense even though it may have been just.

How is the issue that man can't rule himself being proved if Satan is being allowed to influence human affairs?

In order to be fair in determining if man can make his own decisions apart from God should'nt he be given the same circumstances that Adam and Eve had?

Why are demons who have committed sins far worse than any human can hope to make allowed to continue living when humans have been killed instantly for lesser errors?

Why will Satan and his demons be allowed to mislead people after the thousand year reign?

Do you mean, "will we be tempted again a long time after we begin to reign with Christ over our own person - after He casts out the strongman?" If thats what you're referring to then Yeah, I reckon so, I believe this happens to people.

As for 'millennial reign on earth' ideas - I don't think that way.

God's channel withholding information

over the history of the watchtower society, they have published numerous medical articles with warnings of dangerous substances such as aluminium and others promoting quack medicines which never worked.

is it not strange, that the people choosen as "god's channel" would get these things wrong?

even stranger is the lack of information on truly dangerous substances.

Can we be gods channel / out WT the WTS?

just wondering.

the wts makes a big fuss about being 'god channel of communication' and the only ones able to provide proper spritual food yada yada yada.

i wonder how easy or difficult it is to some up with something that sounds reasonable and sensible from the bible that the wts has never picked up on?

How about,

GOD sent HIS star guiding the wise men to Jerusalem to reveal the birth of His son to His chosen, who didn't know (in their arrogance) - but Herod heard and wanted to kill Him - so God sent the wise men on to His son with provisions for a journey to leave the place - as you said, they were poor.

Joseph was told "in a dream" to not trust Herod and leave, and Herod became livid that the wise men didn't return - so he did what he did in Bethlehem to try and kill Him anyway. This is our belief - and it preaches repentance - of the magi, who were "exceedingly joyful".

The gifts were given to help the family leave, before Herod decided to kill the children, who I might add,

- are virgins - who follow the lamb - first fruits to God - in their mouth was found no lie - and they are before the throne of God (annointed?)

I find the jw story bizarre, but there's enough 'information' there for them to formulate it - can't say they didn't have free will.

a friend of mine said that jw's paid tithing.

i've never heard it mentioned on this board - is this true, and if so is there a set amount?

it's biblical so i would expect the jw to say something about it.
